The finished project photos for this lovely bungalow 🏡 The team have worked together to sand, treat and paint all of the wooden areas, making sure to replace any rotten wood found along the way. The feather edged fence has been changed for a new post and rail fence and all guttering has been replaced. Some before and current progress photos of an exterior make over for this lovely bungalow 🏡 We have been asked to repaint the exterior walls, along with sanding and repainting all the exterior wood and window frames. We shall be taking down the porch and replacing all the guttering. Finally we will be removing the feather edge panels and leaving the fence as a post and rail fence, painting it white. For this client it was time to remove their old conservatory; we are building a new flat roof extension with large bi-folding doors to the front and a window to the side. Extension & Renovation update Here’s an update on our extension and renovation project, after a few material hold ups, the roof, fascia and soffits are pretty much done. The interior is almost ready for plaster board and the electric and plumbing 1st fix is complete. A little bit of everything The boys have been hard at work on this landscaping project and, we’ve had a bit of everything to do. We began by putting in a new feather edge fence to create 2 parts to the garden and replaced the old feather edge fence down the far side of the garden. We then dug a new soak away and levelled the area for slabbing. We laid 90 square metres of light brontë Indian sandstone and put in drainage integrated into one end. Finally we left a French drain border around a portion of the patio and turfed the whole garden, leaving one bit out for a future fire pit. Old and new, what a privilege to work on these projects. It’s been an absolute privilege to work on this grade 2 star listed property and help the owners to preserve and future proof this incredible late 15th early 16th century building. The job entailed taking up the old (but modern in relation to the age of the property) concrete floor and terra forma below to allow for insulation and underfloor heating. This will allow the house to breathe and stay damp free to allow the 500+ year old timbers to survive for centuries to come. Also, a long overdue update on our extension and renovation project. We now have the majority of the tiles on the roof and windows and doors to match the fascia. The stud work is now constructed inside and the ‘fun’ job of insulating has begun 🥵. Nice addition to the garden room. Great work from everyone along the way to complete this latest landscaping project. We began digging out and putting down a layer of hardcore before building and securing the pergola. We then slabbed around the garden room and finished the front edge with the same slabs. Grouted and some topsoil to neaten the edges completed the job. It’s been a while It’s been a while since we’ve done a pergola and slabbing, but it’s taking shape nicely. We removed an old brick base, levelled and hardcored the area, so we could build and concrete in this pergola. We got a good chunk of the slabs done, leaving a little to lay tomorrow. Out with the old in with the new. Nice little job to finish the week off, replacing some very rotten sleepers and creating a little planting area. We put in additional support posts, the old sleepers were only held up by 2 concrete posts. To ensure the sleepers last longer than 5 years (yes the old sleepers were only 5/6 years old!), we ensured a larger area behind the sleepers, was left to put membrane and stone for drainage. In addition to this the sleepers purchased have been pressure treated to increase longevity. Finally, a bit of metal border edge was put in to create a planter area behind the sleeper wall. Storm ready fence, ready for any tornado! This storm ready metal fencing can withstand gusts of wind up to 130mph, so they should hold up to anything the British weather can throw at it. We were asked to find and match the existing metal fence, so we could move and extended it to the new boundary. Turf ready for summer Gardens in Haverhill can be notorious for having a lot of clay and no one likes leather jackets, put these 2 together and you have a recipe for a rubbish lawn. We have been called to one of the new developments to help sort their garden. Firstly, we dug out and levelled the garden, removing between 4 and 8 inch’s of clay. We then put back a mix of sharp sand and topsoil, for added drainage and a top layer of topsoil before laying the turf. We put in a 500mm wide plater either side, using some landscaping baton. The floor joists over the new extensions have been put up and we have begun laying the floor boards. I hate brambles! We are back at an old job we started a couple of years ago, but the customer is now at a stage to get the garden completed. The site was in need of a complete clean up because the brambles had taken over the garden. We had ‘fun’ getting a mini digger down the side of the house and up the garden using a series of ramps to get to the third tier. We have levelled the top tier of the garden in preparation for footings so a retaining wall/ planters can be built and rendered. The boys have really made progress with the chippy work, and blocking up old doorways and windows or creating new ones. No oversight with the oversite. The oversite has been prepared with hardcore, blinding of sand, damp proof membrane and finally the concrete pour. Around the exterior of the extension, we back filled and added hardcore, for a mud free and solid surface to work on and for the scaffolding. So satisfying We poured the footings for the extension and renovation project this week. It is always so satisfying, watching the concrete run through and fill up the trench (sad I know)! We have also started putting in the drainage and finishing off the soak away. On track to begin laying blocks and up-cycled bricks, taken from the old extension we ripped down, as a base for the new timber structure extension. New Renovation & Extension Project And so a new project begins and probably one of my favourite parts, breaking stuff, well some stuff! We are saving as many of the bricks as possible for the extension. This project consists of a new extension to the side and back of the property and renovating the inside of the old part. We’ve been busy this week, already taking down the utility room, the old extension at the back of the property and dug the soak away.
